I hail from a South Jersey suburb of Philadelphia and have lived in Maryland for the later half of my life.
I graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Alas, I never worked in the marketing field. Instead, I used the technical knowledge I gained while doing my studies and went into computer support. I believe I always had the knack of communicating technical information in a nontechnical way and naturally went into teaching technology. I was an adjunct professor at Prince George’s Community College and was a trainer for Marriott International training on their proprietary applications.
I was interested in training design and development and attended many workshops to ease the transition into the different learning and training realms. This has gradually grown to include organizational development and learning program management. Three years ago, I transitioned to working at a media company where I am a Learning Program Manager. This is a fancy title to denote that I am a learning generalists and divide my time among developing online learning, organizational development, technical training, business skills training, and development consultations.
Ten years after obtaining my undergraduate degree, I decided to enroll in a dual masters program as the next step in my career path. I am currently enrolled in the Master of Distance Education/Master of Business Administration program.
